Roofing System/Building Wall Junctions

Improperly installed or broken rooftop wall-joint seals can result in wet insulation and leaks and
commonly do so.

• Exterior walls
• Parapet walls
• Knee walls
• Curbs on the outer edges of a roofing system

All these can result in leaks and wet insulation when water runs down a vertical surface to poorly maintained metal flashing or caulking sealing the roof assembly to the vertical surface.
Underlying insulation then becomes wet and under infrared camera examination indicates where the leak is.

The connection between two difference roofing systems on the same building can also be a source of accelerated wear, subsequent leaks and energy loss.
